This incredibly beautiful park, located approximately 50 minutes from Palm Springs, California, and about 130 miles east of Los Angeles, Ca., in the Twentynine Palms, California area. Joshua Tree National Park attracts over 1.3 million visitors each year.
You can drive through, hike, walk, picnic or go horseback riding or camping at Joshua Tree National Park. Although the park is open year 'round, the peak months for tourist visits is April.
Each season of the year brings its unique beauty and characteristics to the awe-inspiring desert landscape. At Joshua Tree National Park, two deserts join each other - The Colorado Desert, the eastern section of the park, is characterized by the abundant of the creosote bush. The other half is the higher, slightly cooler and wetter Mojave Desert that features the special habitat of the Joshua tree, featuring extensive species that are omnipresent in the western section of the vast national park.
Joshua Tree Park encompasses some of the most interesting geologic displays found in any of the California deserts. Exposed granite monoliths and rugged mountains of beautifully sculptured rock attest to the power of the earth forces that shaped this unparalleled National Park called Joshua Tree National Monument.
